Perhaps you’ve noticed that my pledge to create a weekly yard bouquet from plants in our garden has fallen by the wayside. I can attribute this to two causal factors: 1) the weather here has been crap — record high temperatures without rain — making our yard look hideous, and 2) my own laziness. But I’m going to try to do better, at least until all the plants go dormant later this fall.
The first year we lived here I planted some kind of chrysanthemums, although I can’t remember their official name. Truth is, I don’t really like these mums. But I gotta hand it to them this year, after they bloomed in late spring I cut them back, and now amidst this horrific heat and drought they’ve bloomed again.
So hat’s off to you, whatever-your-name-is mums. I’m officially impressed and you are most worthy of starring in the revival of my yard bouquets.
