Our neighbors gave us four dining room chairs that needed a makeover so I experimented on one chair to decide what we wanted to do with all of the chairs. The good news is that after painting and recovering the cushion (and then repainting because we didn’t really like the color), we have finally settled on a color for the dining room chairs. As you may recall, there have been many chapters of this dining room chair makeover, including a poll and lots of helpful advice.
For those of you keeping track, when the chair (and its three matching sisters) was given to us, it was stained wood:
Then I painted it off-white because that’s what I thought I really wanted (and wasn’t inclined to listen to Mark who told me it wasn’t a good idea):
But the off-white didn’t look great with our homemade black dining room table:
So then we settled on a pale green — the same color that is in our kitchen. But while we love the green in our kitchen, we definitely didn’t love it on the chair (especially since it looked a heck of a lot like the off-white chair we’d just rejected):
So in the end, we’ve gone with what Mark wanted all along:
And you know what? He was right. It’s definitely the right choice. It’s also a testament to him that not once has he uttered that all too satisfying phrase, “I told you so.”
Now, now, the bad news is that we still have those three matching sister chairs to makeover. Sweet mercy, do you think we’ll ever finish this project?
