This was a bit of a difficult week for yard bouquets. There are lots of things that are about to come into bloom and several things that are finishing blooming. There isn’t a lot that’s in bloom. So I got slightly creative (creative for me, that is).
We grow Vinca minor (also aptly called periwinkle for the color of its flowers) in various parts of the yard as a ground cover. For most of the year, it’s sort of boring. But for a few weeks in spring, it puts forth cheerful little flowers.
So I clipped off some of the flowers and brought them inside. I couldn’t find an appropriate small vase, so I improvised with this mug meant for green tea:
Then I really pushed the boundaries of my limited creativity and grabbed some empty spice jars. I went back outside and clipped a couple of small branches of forsythia and redbud. Here they all are together.
Oh so zen. Well, sort of.
