This is not a usual post. I’m using this blog to advertise that I lost my beloved wrist watch at the North Carolina Zoo on Friday. I writing about it here on the off, off chance that someone who found it might google “lost watch at the North Carolina Zoo” in an effort to get the watch back to me. It’s a long shot, but I’m so devastated by losing this watch that I have to try. The watch has deep sentimental value — it was my grandfather’s and my grandmother gave it to me after he died — and I’ve worn it just about every day for over 20 years. I feel sick about losing it.
The watch is a wind-up, has a black leather band, a stainless steel back, grayish face, and has the manufacturer’s name, “Gubelin” printed on the face plate. It sort of looks like this, but it doesn’t have Roman numerals:
