I rarely justify the expense of buying a bouquet of flowers especially since fresh-cut flowers from the yard can be just as gorgeous and a heck of a lot friendlier to the budget. Charlie helped me plant 25 daffodil bulbs last fall and now they’re blooming. At the end of a long winter, the site of these fun yellow flowers just makes me smile. I can’t remember how much we paid for the bulbs, but I’m sure it was less than $20. That seems like a bargain when I think these bulbs will bloom year after year, always as a very welcome sign of spring. On top of that, there’s virtually no maintenance required of daffodils and the deer completely avoid them. That’s my kind of plant!
I clipped this beautiful little bouquet this morning and there are still so many daffodils left growing in the front yard that I can hardly tell I cut any. And since it’s my aunt’s birthday but she lives too far for us to celebrate together, I dedicate this blog post’s photo of daffodils to her. Happy birthday, Posey.
So how about you, dear readers? Do you have any favorite spring flowers?
