Beeping and clanging from trucks in the street woke us up this morning. The city had sent a crew to work on the water line outside our house doing whatever it is that crews do to water lines. No one told us that they were going to turn off our water right about the time I was preparing to shower to get ready for work. Doing a quick inspection, I decided that I really couldn’t comfortably get away with not bathing. So, I did the only thing I could think of: grab a bunch of ice cubes from the freezer, melt them in a pan on the stove, and, clutching a washcloth, bring the water in a bowl to the bathtub. Yup, that’s right. I took a bath with water from about 20 ice cubes. Now, think of the money I’d save if I did this everyday….
